Sat., Jan. 28 - House Hunting

Today I woke up, took a cold shower (not by choice), drank two cups of coffee, put on a sweet outfit that matched my black stomping boots, and went house shopping with Mike, Will, Jon, and Jess. As Jon put it in his away message, "shopping for houses is some cross between interesting and annoying", minus the annoying.

Here's how our day went:

House #1

Steady, Sam.

That's better.

This house was pretty cute. It's about 5 minutes further out from where we live now. Not bad at all. I'd buy it. Maybe I will.

House #2

Just kidding. House #2 ended up being $270,000 so it doesn't deserve a picture.

Townhouse #1 - "The graveyard house"

This development backs a cemetary where, creepily enough, there was a body being buried today. Haha. That didn't deter us, though. The front door was locked so we snuck around the back to the unlocked patio door, politely took our shoes off, and frolicked around inside. It was very nice. Wood floors, fireplace, nice fixtures, 3 bedrooms, soft carpet, lots of sunlight. 1500+ square feet, good neighborhood (it's dead!). This was the clear winner at the end of the day.

Townhouse #2 - First the neighborhood

I guess this is the playground?

Jess rocking the playground.

Now for the home:

Zombies? Where?

That neighborhood was eerily quiet and out of the way. We couldn't get into any of the homes either so that's pretty much off the list.

After that we drove into Cburg at my request since living is cheaper there. We looked at some townhomes that were nice enough although the surrounding area is full of rapists and crackheads according to Will and Jon. The one townhouse I liked actually ended up having a bad floor plan, really inefficient use of space. The other, less expensive townhome had a much better layout. A good option for Dave and me when we're ready to consider buying a place. I'm sure the crackheads are nice once you get to know them.

When that was over we ate some delicious food at Shaker's, broke into my office to get some faxed floor plans we had sent there, picked up BK for Dave who was at home working, and went home.

Please excuse the crazy formatting. I'll figure this out eventually.
